As far as I'm concerned, this is a decent film that is fun, but lacks anything to really make it stand out. The film made me laugh, but I felt something was missing to make it a good sequel. The material here is decent at best, sometimes it falls flat, and Rowan Atkinson tries too hard. Bean's Holiday is a decent comedy with a few good laughs, however with nearly every sequel it fails to deliver something that is very memorable and above all worth it.

Will I watch it again? Highly unlikely but this a good movie if you want to watch something that won't take much of your time or your brainpower.ĭecent sequel to Bean, this is a modest comedic affair with mild laughs, but the material is more strained this time around to try and create a comedy that is both memorable and fun. I, for one, had a lot of fun watching this and I'm not afraid to admit it. So don't go in expecting a film exploring the complexities of human nature. No matter how much I love the Bean series, I'll always love Blackadder more.

If you've ever seen this series then you know just how talented and quick-witted Rowan Atkinson can be and if there can be TWO Bean movies then there's no reason we can't get ONE Blackadder movie. The series tells the story of Edmund Blackadder at different points of British history and how every generation of this character achieves to strive greatness in the face of great stupidity. If you've never seen Blackadder, Netflix instant has it and I suggest you watch it since it's one of the best comedy series I've ever seen. But this Bean movie has me wondering why they won't, at least do, a Blackadder movie. He certainly can be over-the-top but the guy has great comedic timing, there's no doubt about it. Rowan Atkinson is great as always, he doesn't need to say anything for him to be funny and the film shows that off. I just thought that it added something different to the film and I'd actually like to see how much they actually filmed for that which really didn't comprise more than 15% of the movie, because it was really quite inspired. It's clearly all about him and the film reflects that. I just found his character's vanity, as evidenced in his film, Playback Time, that's screened at Cannes and how pretty much the film is just meant to showcase him and his "talents".

I found the stuff with Willem Dafoe to, actually, be really funny.

There's actually some really inspired bits here though.

Really it is silly humor and some of the gags are ripped off the TV series. They aren't particularly memorable but I did like Bean being stuck in an outhouse, and somehow ripping it off, and moving it with him still stuck. I say surprisingly because a lot of the gags, at first, don't really work at all but they start clicking better as the movie goes along. To be honest a lot of these gags feel like stuff they left off the series because they just didn't get around to it, that's not to say they aren't funny because the film, surprisingly, gets better as it goes on. There story that is here is largely unimportant, clearly, it's just about the next sight gags. But, really, this film is more "faithful" to the character of the series than that lame movie they did, specifically, for American audiences. I can't really find a reason to justify the existence of this film other than, clearly, a quick paycheck for those involved.
