That team had their own insurance that covers major damage. They then had to talk to the local trucking team that actually made the delivery. Looooong story short: Lowes told us we had to go through the 3rd party company that coordinates the fridge deliveries (JB Hunt). They hooked the new fridge to a copper line (which is against their company policy) and it leaked for over a month underneath the house and caused about 20K in damage. So we had basically the exact same situation happen to us. Do I fire the lawyer? Then what do I do? Is tehre some sort of statue on filing a claim? Can I try to go at Lowes myself for teh repair cost? I can't keep living like this, I still have no flooring in my kitchen, and my downstairs bedroom is still sitting with no carpet and a caved in ceiling.
WEll that was 7 months ago.and I have no idea where my case stands, as the lawyer never gets back to me, and has never given me the emails and correspondence that i have requested, of whatever dealings hes had with Lowes. After much back and forth with them, and being told Lowes was responsible I hired a lawyer. I had originally called my home owners, and they had Stanley Steamer come to dry the kitchen out. Here we are 8 months later and I have not received one penny from Lowes. He figured out that the yanked out water line had been dipping water in the was and under the kitchen floor for weeks!!!! The basement bedroom carpet had to be ripped out, the ceiling will need to be replaced, and upstairs water was under my kitchen floor, so my kitchen floor had to be ripped up, and then had to be professionally dried out because of mold, with the whole kitchen being wrapped in plastic and huge fans running for days. At first I had no idea where this water came from, and called someone to come look. Unknown to me at the time, when they took out the old fridge, which had an ice maker, the delivery guys yanked the water line out of the wall and left it like that!!!! It wasn't until a few weeks later that I went down to my finished basement and entered the bedroom down there that I noticed a problem.the ceiling in that room was caved, the carpet was soaked, along with everything else in the room. Part of the contract was to take out and remove the old fridge, which they did, and they placed the new fridge in its place. 8 months ago I had fridge delivered to my home that was purchased at Lowes, it was delivered by a third party company that Lowes hired.
